Ron’s big buck
By Jason Mullis, Everybody's Talkin' column
It didn’t take Ron Roll long to get his buck after firearms season began. The 38-year-old Lawrence County native dropped an 15-pointer on the second day of the season.
The buck, weighing 170 pounds, scored as a 178 class.
According to Roll’s wife Linda, Ron usually hunts alone, but his wife pretty well knows his whereabouts, which was a good thing when Roll dropped the deer.
“He called me and said, ‘Bring me your truck. I just got a buck,’” Linda said. “And I asked him why he didn’t go get the tractor to get it. ‘Nope,’ he told me. ‘I’m not leaving this one alone.’”
The Roll family has already taken the big deer to a deer processor in Spencer to have the meat turned into jerky and ground venison. And, that big rack is being prepared for a wall in the Roll home
