All the other boards are just Hunting Indiana "wannabe's! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Interesting pics though........I wont say the dog had it comin' to him.........but the dog had it comin' to him. $1000 reward for the person responsible? Why not a $1000 reward for the owner who didn't have it contained and let it run loose.

Looks like poor shot placement to me. An arrow hasn't got the punch to do the job on a head shot.

Ahhh, yet one more reason I was packing a pistol during early archery. People assume bullets can come from anyone, but an arrow has got to be a hunter.

I guess I am one too. People need to keep their dogs on their own property.

Sorry guys.
For me the ONLY reason to shoot a dog with anything is if it is threatening me.
It doesn't become fair game to shoot at will just because it wandered away or got loose from it's owner.
The non-hunter sees this as a "Barbaric Bowhunter Shoots Pet Dog".
Not good for hunting..

All the other boards are just Hunting Indiana "wannabe's! ;D ;D ;D ;D You can say that agin. This one appears to be a direct knock off of HuntingIndiana. Just swapping the Hunting and Indiana around. Then go out and make posts on other hunting groups with a link back.. Not good net manners, bigbucks. Really? I wonder how long it will take him to run everyone off.?

For me the ONLY reason to shoot a dog with anything is if it is threatening me. I'll have to disagree with that. We get dogs running deer over here. It's illegal to let animals chase wildlife but no one does anything about it. Let's face it, nothing can be done. By the time it's reported the dog is gone and looking for it just messes up your hunting even more. Been there done that.

Why would it be ok to give a dog less consideration than a deer. To kill one quickly is one thing,to stick one in the head and let it suffer is another. And if it were chasing I doubt it would have been a stright on head shot. I hunt and I see this as barbaric.

So I guess yotes get a free pass on your properties then . I don't shoot every dog that crosses my path... but I will talk to the owners and ask them to keep them off the property several times before they become "a target of opprotunity". Most dog owners are respectful enough to attempt to keep thier dogs out of hunters' way... but the one person near my property that gets nasty with me everytime i ask him to keep them chained or pinned during deer season has already had animal control called on him 3 times and that did no good (because it is out int he country they don't care) so when one of his dogs never came home... I never had a problem again. (his dogs are also mean and one has bitten me int he past on my property... when animal control came around he said the dog was not his it was a stray)

The non-hunter sees this as a "Barbaric Bowhunter Shoots Pet Dog". Not good for hunting.. It depends on the situation for me. I wouldnt shoot a dog in my hunting places because I know those dogs belong to someone in the houses close by. At my buddies place the dogs ran the deer every time we hunted there. He told me before we went and sure enough they were. They will get shot.........its a matter of time. The dog in the photo was a stray someone dumped out. By the angle of the arrow it was shot from the ground so maybe the dog was threatening the hunter who shot it. The only thing I see "barbaric" about this is that it wasnt a quick kill when in all rights that dog should be deader then a door nail. The headlines could have easily read.......Hunter shoots dog in self defense. Not barbaric hunter shoots pet dog.

As a kid, I was assaulted and bitten by a stray german shepherd, not fun. Also as a kid, a medium sized stray dog chased and caused me to crash my bicycle, and I ended up injured with multiple abrasions, shredded and ruined clothes and in the middle of a busy state highway with locked up car brakes and squealing car tires looking me right in the face; luckily the driver was alert, or I wouldn't be posting right now. That's all I'm saying...

2shotjoe, I just sighted in my new varmint rifle, so let me know if you need some help... : )
A house dog that temporarily escaped or a beagle off track is one thing, but random dogs running wild is another... : (

See this little girl in the pic??? She is my daughter,, If I was to find her with an arrow in her, it would not be a good thing. And then to have to explain to my other daughter would be even worse. Dogs are not just dogs to some people, THE ARE FAMILY!!! TO ALL YOU DOG KILLERS OUT THERE,, JUST HOPE YOU DONT SHOOT MY DOG!!!! I do keep a short leash on her, but cant stand seeing anyone abuse dogs, and a arrow to the head is ABUSE!!!
