We had a blast (literally) today Obviously Chadd got some major buck fever with the 12 gauge. 5 shots and all he did was knock off aright tine and put a half moon hole in the left antler. Another guy got him and i got a pic of him. My lil antler hunter has a lot of razzin to take now!

5 shots.... Did I mention how much I hate 12ga slugs? Glad someone was able to get the deer. Yeah me too! He was much better with the bow. I worked with him ALOT with the bow so his mind goes through all the steps of the shot. I guess now we need to work on the gun steps. At the range he was 1/2" to 1" off I don't know what happen between the range and the deer woods to tell the truth?

Get him a .357 or .44 Levergun for next year. At 50 yds a .357 with a 180gr WNFP will leave a golfball sized hole from the point of impact out the other side... and he can actually controll the silly thing.

Well, logic would say that if he hit it in the antler, he was probably looking there instead of at the kill area.
OI your personal agenda is getting old, the answer to everything is not handgun caliber rifles.

In the case of kids and women a .44 rifle is a LOT easier to control than a shoulder thumping 12 guage.

He doesn't need another gun he needs to learn to follow steps.

That awful agenda of wanting to keep Hunting a viable sport for the Plebes by making/keeping it as easy/inexpensive to do as possible. Silly me.

Last lever action I bought was a marlin 45-70 cost me 499.00 shells where 20.00 for a box of 20
I saw where remington 870's were selling for 220.00 at Dicks this weekend. Box of 5 shells 1.99
Seems the slugs are more viable than your cowboy shooter.
More like goofy you.

? ? ? I don't own a .45-70 I borrowed one to compare recoil.
.45-70s wouldn't be legal under the proposed rule anyway, so your point is specious.
But try pricing a box of .357s or .44s.
And the slugs you priced are almost certainly not Sabot slugs.
When you start agtating for Smooth-bore-only shotguns and Patched-round-ball-only Muzzleloaders I'll shut up about Pistol Caliber Carbines. Deal?

no deal, there are no reason to shoot sabot shotgun slugs. 5 years ago they were almost non existant.
there is nothing wrong with a rifle barrle and a good ole slug.
You havent been around the shotguns long enough to know what your taking about.
YOu have a california metality, you want to bring what you had at your other residence and want to change the way that we have been doing things here for years.

I do not understand why someone would be against the proposed change. I have a rifled slug barrel and a lever gun; there is no question I am more accurate with the lever gun at 100yds. Better accuracy = less wounded deer. Seems like a good idea to me; remember we're talking 44mag, 45 Colt type rounds, not bottlenecked or long straight walled rifle cartridges.

I dont care about the change, what gets old is when someone whines about it 24/7 and can turn any post into either a handgun calbier post or whine because they dont have any place to hunt.

What really gets old is that some people are against pistol caliber rifles just because it happens to be a rifle. It doesn't matter that they are ballistically equal to shotguns and muzzleloaders, offer less recoil than either, or that not one good reason can be given not to allow them. All that matters is that they are called rifles, and some don't want rifles. That is what really gets old.
