Well it is official. I have decided that I dislike college so much that I am not going to finish my degree. (mush to the dismay of my wife) I am getting out of the healthcare field all together and am going to start looking for a job in construction or as a carpet layer ... already have a little experience in both ... so I can have a skill that is both useful and enjoyable to me. Now it is just a matter of finding a company or individual that is even hiring in the off season..... wish me luck

Good luck! I work in health care now, I don't blame you one bit for changing your mind. Healthcare is more about paperwork than actually helping people. I hate it.

Thanks Decatur ... I hvae been in health care for the last 3 years straight (while going to school) and I have been thinking about leaving for a long time.... I knew early on that it is not what I was wanting... I was wanting something more along the lines of the health care I provided in the ARMY.... you work with people and help people and don't sit at a desk answering phones and cleaning rooms ... an of course the paper work ... because Lord knows you can't do anything in a hospital with out filling out somehting in triplicate.

Construction, learn a trade, carpet installers are a dime a dozen.

Lots of great opportunities in the construction industry. There is a nationwide shortage of skilled trades labor, and it does not appear it will get any better anytime soon. Stay out of residential and light commercial, and get into industrial and institutional work if you want to make any money. Stay away from the short pants, tennis shoe, dope head outfits and hook up with a reputable contractor that pays well, offers good insurance, benefits, retirement, vacations, etc.
