I just got my assignment for tomorrow... I'm covering the groundbreaking of the Hamilton Town Center development along I-69 near Noblesville/Fishers. Hopefully tomorrow they will confirm that BPS or Cabela's will indeed be one of the anchor stores that has been the subject of much rumor for more than a year!
Stay tuned! I'll try to get a post on here as soon as I know something. The groundbreaking isn't until 230, so it will be after that time before I can get something posted.
Let's all wish REALLY hard..... I'm hoping for Cabela's, simply because we already have some BPS's within a few hours drive of Indy........but I'd still LOVE to have a BPS right here also!!!

Nothing on their extended forcast. They usually know well in advance of any ground breakings and announce it on their site.
The one in Hammond isn't due intill 2007/2008 - ground breaking isn't until next spring - and they have it posted.
I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I really wouldn't sweat it. I was on my way back from central WI on the 15th and stopped at the final day of the Richfield Cabelas Grand Opening.
The gun counter was decent. The Used Guns sellection was better than average. The Gun Library was ... interesting, but snooty. I've seen better Bow counters, though the Range was nice.
There were a few good Sales items, but 99% of what was there was the same price or better from the catalog.
There were too many nick-nacks, too much noise, and too many people - particularly people who wouldn't know the difference between a Barnett and a Browning.
In short, it was like being at the Mall, with Guns.
Worth a visit maybe once a year. Otherwise, I'll stick to the Catalog/Website.

Have you guys noticed that the higher end archery folks tend to stay out of big stores like Cabela's and BPS? I like that. It puts excellent brand names in the hands of the small shop owners.

In Ft Wayne we've got two Dicks Sporting Goods and a Gander Mountain. Last time i went to Dundee to Cabelas i decided it was my last. On most items Cabelas prices were 5.00 an item higher than Gander.
The store that has impressed me lately is Sportsman Warehouse in Lafayette. Nothing but hunting, fishing and boating supplies. They had a great reloading department with items i haven't found in other stores. h.h.

I really like Sportsmans Warehouse. We had one in Spokane. Much better "guy shopping" experience.

I think about any other store would be better than Dicks Sporting Goods.I wish more of the small guys could stay in business.Over the last fews years, there has been several shops go out of business around here,I guess it's too hard to compete with the" big box guys"I would rather give the little guy my business, plus you could sit around and talk hunting or fishing for a while and have a good ol time.I wish Bogans was still in business, but since they aren't I'll just have to make the hour drive south to Bass Pro,heck you can't even buy a gun at Wal-Mart anymore..

I kinda wish that Wal-Mart WOULD totally ditch their hunting department.......that way I don't feel so bad when I do pick up something there. I'd much rather shop Gander, but when you are right there in Wally-World, and you see something on sale it's hard NOT to buy it. At least if they ditch everything I wont have the guilt trip.

Anything is better than Dicks "wanna-be" sporting goods. That place suks I agree...the last time I was in there, I overheard a guy who was new to bow hunting asking the kid behind the counter about some archery equipment. Well, the kid had NO clue what he was talking about, and I could tell the guy asking the questions was getting frustrated. When he finally left the counter I pulled him off to the side and helped him out. Nothing worse than dealing with incompentance!

Well.....the only store that Simon would even begin to say was going in was a JCPenney. I looked very closely at the artist renderings and there are two HUGE chunks of retail space that is obviously for a large box-type store. We asked why no announcements for what stores were going in and they said that they are still in negotiations with several stores, and that Simon could not make public the stores until the retailer makes their own announcements and gives Simon permission. Soooooo....the wait continues.
