...But it's been keeping me out of the woods on the weekends! I've been building a retaining wall the last two weekends as a side-job. It would have been nearly done by now, but it was put on a 7-week delay. When it's done (probably next spring), it'll be nearly 12 feet tall in the middle, and 80-90 feet in total length. I told them I'd work on it until the end of the month, then I've got deer to hunt! Until then, I'm making more money than the venison would save us. Here's the before pic: And here's where it's at, as of the end of the day yesterday (forgot the camera today!): So, aside from hunting, what's been keeping the rest of you busy??? ;D

Just curious as to how you are stabilizing the wall. It looks like you are building levels of dirt and plastic behind each row of block. Is this to keep the hill from pushing the wall out over time? What are you using for each level section?

One block at a time ! Just keep stacking and backfilling and you'll be there before you know it.

Dan, looks like you could possibly hunt off the back hillside? Get it done! We need to win the contest!

Dan, looks like you could possibly hunt off the back hillside? Get it done! We need to win the contest! I've thought about it. ;D They've only got 5 acres though, but there's a couple of good ridges loaded with hardwoods. As for how it's going up, it's one course at a time, one block at a time. Geo-grid re-inforcement every 3 courses (that's the black stuff you see behind the wall in the second pic), the center pulls will be around 11-12 feet long the entire hieght. There's 3 courses of block (24") buried that you DON'T see. Once the base is leveled, the rest of it should be within tolerances (if the manufacturer did their job ). I'm cutting it off for the fall at the end of the month. There's NO way it'll be done by then, and I doubt he's going to finish it over the winter. I imagine I'll be back in the spring to finish it....
