This week I read in US Today about the President of Venezuela speaking at the UN and making very derogatory remarks about our President. I was appalled at the thought of some two-bit leader speaking that way about the head of our country. Regardless of your party affiliation, or your personal view of President Bush, he is the leader of OUR country and everyone of us should resent what was said about him this week at the UN. One of Lesa’s customers sent her this e-mail regarding his thoughts about what took place. I couldn’t agree more with him and hope you do also. Please read his e-mail and send this on to everyone you can. At a minimum, I would encourage you to never purchase fuel at Citgo or 7-11.
I, as a general rule, stay away from political discussions with people aside from very close friends. I have my views and they are not easily swayed, so I assume that most people are the same. However, the recent comments and events at the UN General Assembly have urged me to point a few things out to some friends and acquaintances. Please read the excerpt below from a CNN report:
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez tore into his U.S. counterpart and his U.N. hosts Wednesday, likening President Bush to the devil and telling the General Assembly that its system is "worthless."
"The devil came here yesterday," Chavez said, referring to Bush, who addressed the world body during its annual meeting Tuesday. "And it smells of sulfur still today."
The U.N. was founded in an era of two superpowers, he said. "The Soviet Union collapsed. The United States empire is on the way down and it will be finished in the near future, for the good of all mankind."
Now, for those that are not Bush fans, the first statement may be welcome. I am sure it will be in Hollywood, by the likes of Tim Robbins and Ben Affleck. And that is fine. That is what America is about and even if you disagree with what those folks think or say, it certainly is their right to say them.
HOWEVER, the second part should alarm even those on the extreme left. Particularly when spoken by a very close ally of Iran, who also has nuclear aspirations.
Now, the point of my email. Please take a look at these links:

Notice that Citgo, the gas station and convenience store company that you see on about every corner, is a company, wholly owned by the Venezuelan government. This includes Citgo stations, 7-11's, Rama car washes, Mystic stations and Citgo Fastlubes. It really wouldn't take a whole lot for us all to just drive by these stations to the next one, NOT owned by Venezuela, and not contribute to Mr. Chavez's cause, whatever that cause may be.
I urge you all to investigate this, and make your own decision. But it certainly is something to think about.
Also, if you send this out to 5 friends, nothing will happen and you won't have a wish granted or any stupid stuff like that. But, it might make Mr. Chavez rethink his anti-American sentiments if Citgo's profits dropped dramatically!
