Why do you suppose different states allow different types of hunting?
For example, some states allow baiting, or party hunting.
Why do they do that? I`m glad Indiana doesn`t allow those things since I don`t believe they`re ethical-but why do some states allow them?
It it tradition?

You are probably right about the tradition part. Iowa (the last I knew) doesn't allow archery (at least primitive archery) in the regular firearms season.
Why do we have 5 days of NO deer hunting between firearms and muzzleloader?
Change comes, but it's usually pretty slow.

I personally like the 5 day cool down period. Maybe I'm weird tho?

I don't mind it, but I don't understand it.
At the very least, it gives the serious hunters a chance to catch up on things at home and to catch a break.

I say just hunt from your computer with the click of a mouse. Or if you have some X-tra cash you don't know how to burn call up one of our fine perserves here in Indiana and book a half day hunt. Kill a 140+ buck and mount it in your office. Heck nobody will know any different anyway. All this stuff about scouting and putting up stands and braving the elements is getting old. WHo has time for that crap anymore. Take the easy road and adapt to the ever changing fast paced world we live in.............. But thats just me........lolol

Too many folks looking for the short cuts, they got more money than time and some folks will take their money. Rather it's a pay for penned hunt or leasing and food plots, it's still a short cut. And all for them mighty antlers!!!!!

We went squirrel hunting / deer scouting yesterday down in Owen County. On the way home we stopped at the KFC/Taco Bell in Spencer. The kid that took our order asked if we had been out setting our baits! My response was "WHAT" After a little conversation the kid said he had just moved here from Wisconsin.

Seems those not doing those things under the excuses that you make most of the time are taking a short cut. Same for leasing. You don't want to take the time to work the ground, buy your own ground or even lease a good place to hunt, so be it. There sure the hell isn't anything "short" about those that do.

Fast food sucks....seems you would have smoke a deer leg or spent the time cooking some venison burgers instead of taking the "short cut".

And all for them mighty antlers!!!!! If you are saying leasing is a short cut, how is that? If you are saying food plots are a short cut, how is that ? When I put more plots in this year I wanted to improve the habitat in a general way. Also to improve it for turkeys. The clover is doing great and a couple of the plots have hardly been touched by the deer. What other animals benefit from food plots? If someone fertilizes oak trees is that a short cut to better squirrel hunting? huntingindiana.proboards52.com/index.cgi?board=habitatDoesn't say "Wildlife Shortcuts" I bet most guys would say the time they spend working the ground is very satisfying. Geesh Canned hunts/penned hunts ARE a shortcut I agree with that, but the rest is malarky....and all for the mighty outdoors!!!! Give back to the woods, as it has given to us...... Solohunter
