Brought home 8 ducks today that my boss didn't want at his place.
We've been talking about getting ducks since we bought this place 4 years ago, but just hadn't done it yet. Now we've got some and are complete rookies at it!
Cats or dogs, not a problem. Ducks, however, we could use all the help we can get.
I have a pond that is ~3/4 acre in size- should be more than adequate. I have a temporary enclosure that's roughly 6'x6' that I put up tonight and the long-term temporary 3'x4' house is attached to that enclosure.
I figure I'll give them a couple of days to get used to the happenings around here before I turn them loose on the water. They seemed to want to head straight for it tonight when I got them out of the duck house.
Anybody have any experience to share? I'm concerned about coyotes, as they are fairly populous around here. I know we've had foxes too, but it's been a while since I've seen one.

So no one has raised ducks? We are down to 6, one was found Saturday evening floating in the pond with part of a breast haven been eaten, the other one is still MIA, presumed dead. I may have a snapping turtle in the pond that I don't know about; I'll have to try jugging for one.

Shouldn't be too much longer, and the turtle, if there is one will be hibernating. Good luck.

I will say one thing about there only being 6 ducks instead of 8- it's 25% quieter out there now! ;D
