I had a doctors appointment on the west side of Indianapolis this morning, getting my knee checked out, it`s been aching. The doctor thinks it`s arthritis, wow, coming up on 50 isn`t being very good to me.
I stopped at the McDonalds on 38th street near I-465 on the way out of the medical complex, just because some McDonald’s fries sounded good. As I sat inside the restaurant, eating my meal, I listened to a couple of Mexican workers chatting behind me, going on completely unintelligible to me in Spanish. I instantly went to a scene I had seen several years back in my mind, (don`t remember the movie), but in a mob movie, one of the “made men” is telling his buddies about an incident in front of his shop earlier that morning. He tells them there was a Japanese couple on the sidewalk in front of the shop, in his words: “gibbering back and forth in Japanese, going back and forth, on and on, and I interrupts them-Hey-Hey, you`re in American now. You speak Spanish!”
Don`t get me wrong, I begrudge no one for wanting to make a better life for themselves and their family, even though I do agree with the now famous quote from Roosevelt about the need for immigrants to assimilate themselves into our society.
Nothing really more to the story than it just really struck me this morning about how the times they are a changing`.

I've been to the Mec center twice this past week, and twice the towel head told me what was wrong, and twice i left just as confused as when we went in their!
I wouldn't dare to live in another country without be able to speak their language!
