Dear Mr. Porter,
Thank you for contacting Governor Daniels to express your opposition to fenced hunting. He appreciates the time you took to share your comments and has asked that I respond on his behalf.
The issue of fenced hunting in Indiana is currently in litigation. DNR Director Kyle Hupfer has remained diligent in looking to eliminate the practice in Indiana for future generations, even if the result involves some kind of settlement. Governor Daniels supports this approach, and continues to be supportive of Director Hupfer's actions to tackle this issue.
No other administration has taken steps to eliminate start-up facilities and discontinue expansion of fenced hunting. Past administrations have not come so far as to have discussions about the end of this practice. Governor Daniels has entrusted Director Hupfer to protect the natural resources of this state, and therefore to bring this issue to a resolution--ending the practice of hunting behind high fence.
Thank you for your active citizenship. Please do not hesitate to contact Governor Daniels with future questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Megan Tretter
