UPDATE: Triple murder suspect was living behind his trailer during nationwide manhunt
Nicholas Harbison, a triple murder suspect who has been the subject of a nationwide manhunt, has been arrested in Gibson County, living in an abandoned house with his girlfriend about five acres behind his mobile home.
Indiana State Police arrested Harbison, wanted in connection with the fatal shooting and stabbing of three people in a Pike County cornfield, at about 2:36 p.m. today in the Wheeling area of Gibson County. Misty Davis, his 21-year-old girlfriend, was released to her parents.
Davis called her parents today at 1:07 p.m., and asked them to come pick her up at the abandoned home, said the mother, Debbie Davis.
Debbie Davis said her daughter seemed fine, and both she and Harbison appeared ready for the hunt to end. Her daughter, she said, will be questioned later today by the Indiana State Police.
The mother contacted law enforcement after she met her daughter at the abandoned home.
Harbison will be taken to the Pike County area and held without bond until his initial court appearance.
State police detectives allege that Harbison fatally shot and stabbed three people, Keela Lynch, 18, Daniel White, 21, and Rebeka Acorn, 17, on July 17. Daniel White’s brother, Cameron White, 18, survived the attack and is still being treated for his injuries at a Louisville hospital.
Harbison , 23, of Francisco, Ind., is charged with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in the attacks.
