I trust the Drurys, so I think it's for real.

I read about this in one of the latest bowhunting magazines (can't remember which one). I promptly called Cabela's two days ago and have one on the way. Should be here today.
I'm a call junkie (mostly duck and goose calls), so I seem to have to have one of everything in my collection. Looking forward to trying it this fall.

I think deer have a lot more vocalizations than we give them credit for currently. I won't be surprised if we see more calls like this soon.

I trust the Drurys, so I think it's for real. They kill big deer under fair chase conditions but I remember the dog whistle they came out with for turkey hunting. Hope this isn't the same money making scam. Interesting article in North American Whitetail this month about it.

It got every farmer's hound a baying and the turkeys gobbled at them.

I've been making the Snort wheeze call with my own mouth for a few years now and it works wonders on mature deer.

Hope this isn't the same money making scam. Interesting article in North American Whitetail this month about it. EXACTLY what I was thinking when I read the headline in NAW ! THEN I read the article and heard the description of the sound. I wouldn't call it a growl? And the only thing I've got a problem with in the article is where they've never heard the sound for 30 years and then went out and video taped it 3 times in one season. I heard it this year and may or may not have heard it in the past, but after reading the story I beleive it's a legimiate sound.

I don't know about the dog whistle, but one of the original MADD slate calls is my favorite go to turkey call.
I've never heard any vocalization from a deer that I would call a growl but I have heard some interesting sounds.

I just received my MADD buck growl call about 15 minutes ago. ;D
First I have to say that the production quality of this call is outstanding. First rate. It is a real nice looking call.
I've only blown it a couple times here in my office and it has a real nice grunt sound to it. I'll have to take it home and watch the DVD that comes with it to figure out how to make the "growl" noise. It should be fun to play with.
Good looking call if nothing else.

if it's the sound I heard this year it in no way resembles a growl. It's more like a very loud cow bawling or even a deep fawn in distress...but not a growl?
