Isn't there enough money and rich professional hunters in hunting already? Why do we have to further make hunting into a cash cow freak show?
I just don't get this whole concept. Did you watch the video? Did you see the arrow with the dart tip? Tell me that that arrow with a dart tip is going to stop when it hits a deer at 280 fps or more! Come on, it will burry the shaft deap into that deer, just like a field point would.
This is the absolute stupidest thing I've ever heard of.
If you want to know who is sponsoring this, go to Archerytalk.com and run a search on this topic. There are some BIG names sponsoring it. G5 and Easton just to name a couple.
This is the worst thing to ever hit the hunting "industry".

If this actually flies, then hunting as we know it will be over. One of two things will happen. 1) it suceeds and further fuels the high dollar industry of hunting, further driving a stake into the traditions of hunting OR 2) PETA and the anti's use this to feed thier b.s. fight against hunting to paint even real hunting as the most evil thing to ever occure, prompting legislation that makes our lives as hunters he11.
We as hunters have to stop this thing before it even starts. The easiest way is to go right to the source of the money. These companies need to be flooded with email, mail, faxes, and phone calls. Further the continued purchase of thier products needs to end so long as they are behind this WHA.
If this whole thing hits the mass media (beyond the internet), it will paint an extremely ugly picture on hunting. I don't even want to see what the reaction would be if this makes the nightly news or one of the morning news shows.
We need to stop this NOW.

In bowhunting we have to get that arrow into the vitals in order to take down a deer quickly and humanely. That means a chest shot.
In a drugged dart situation then getting an arrow anywhere in it's body will take the deer down. The "professional hunter" (Man, I hate those words) doesn't even have to be a good shot. The kill zone just went to the whole deer. Actually the meaty hip is an ideal target for a dart as the drug will work faster when introduced into muscle.
I have helped a friend dart his captive deer and the hip is where you want that a dart.
A chest shot would be the very worst shot to make with a drugged dart.
Does not anyone see that these "professional hunters" will be attempting shots at any distance, at any angle and even at a deer on a dead arse run just to get an arrow in the deer?
This has absolutely NO resemblance to bowhunting at all.

That is not hunting , it's drugging an animal soley for the sake of showing off , and requires nearly no skill or practice . It's an abomination designed only to be shown on tv to prostitute commercial products . In my eyes it's no better than the repugnant video of the Bellar atrocities that Woody so kindly sent , and makes me just as ill . Anyone who has so far doubted that so called "commercial hunting" is a threat to our cherished sport has just been given a wake up call . This is the face of the enemy boys , adopting the "hunting" cachet just to prostitute a quick buck at the expense of those who honestly love what we do . Now is the time to write , e-mail , or call all those producers of so called "hunting' shows and their sponsors and simply say "I'm mad as hell , and I'm not gonna take it anymore !" Don't allow them to drag us down to their level , make your voice heard !

Anyone heard who these "hunters" are? They are supposedly well known. Perhaps informing these recruits that we will no longer watch their TV productions, buy their videos, or purchase their products will help to discourage their participation in this abomination. I doubt they would be willing to risk an already successful enterprise by alienating geniune hunters.

Just fired off E-mails to Easton and G5, basically suggesting that in light of the negative remarks posted on this site and others concerning their sponsorship of this program, perhaps they have committed a marketing faux paus. Interested to see what reply I'll get, if any.

Could this be considered harrassing wildlife? Would it even be legal in Indiana?
Do they have a biological mission (i.e.- some sort of study to help with research), or is this purely for "good" TV?
I haven't read any of the articles yet as I'm trying to play "catch up".
If you feel the need to shoot and not kill, use a d*mn paintball gun!
"Fills a void"?? I think I'll be contacting Easton and letting them know I won't be buying any of their products as long as they support this. Too bad for them, 'cause I'm gonna be buying some arrows this year....

Now I need to contact Easton and apologize to them for even THINKING they would be involved in this and assure them that I will continue to buy their products. Thanks for correcting MY faux paus, Woody. Good thing you're around to police me. Anyway, it's good to hear that Eastman Outdoors and Gorilla Treestands have backed out.
