Have you heard about the outfit worldhunt that is going to sponsor a professional hunter show for TV where the hunters shoots deer with dart guns and drug tiped arrows ,this drugs the Deer when shot . if they can find the deer, while the deer is druged they will score the deer and the hunter who bags the best deer can win thousands of dollars. Eight professional hunters have been picked to shoot the deer. I can see a lot of flak and many down sides to this idea. count me out! www.worldhunt.com

Just another example of how the quest for "big racks" is, and will continue to ruin the sport of deer hunting. We are giving the antis all of the ammunition they need to convince lay people that we only do it for the racks on the wall and not for the meat and the experience. These idiots are definately the "enemy among us"!

Now hunting is about to become one, too. The World Hunting Association announced plans Tuesday to create a competitive hunting tour around the world, with the inaugural season beginning this fall at the Lost Arrow Ranch in Gladwin, Mich. David Farbman, a real estate executive and hunter, is the WHA's founder, commissioner and CEO. Farbman and a group of investors are funding the initiative, which offers more than $500,000 in prize money for the first two tournaments. "The WHA fills a void by providing a platform that benefits the entire international hunting industry today and for generations to come," Farbman said. Hunters will shoot white-tail deer and other game with tranquilizers, which should not kill the animals. "For far too long, hunters have looked forward to the day when we would eventually get our own professional sports league," WHA hunter Brett Hankins said. "Well, that time has arrived and we are extremely excited." Here's where-- www.lstarrow.com/index.htm

IMO, they'll be making man's oldest, most basic, most honorable pursuit, into a circus sideshow. Two quotes, " The WHA fills a void by providing a platform that benefits the entire international hunting industry today and for generations to come" and " "For far too long, hunters have looked forward to the day when we would eventually get our own professional sports league.Well, that time has arrived and we are extremely excited.", are in desperate need of an explanation. Why don't they just admit that all they want to do, is make big-time $$$$$ ? At least they'd be believable. I'm afraid that this, like high-fenced hunting and the anti movement, is another nail in the coffin of our beloved sport.

I really thought someone was making a joke when I saw the worldhunt website. This is a very bad idea, shooting Deer with druged darts and arrows in a contest for money. besides being just wrong, can not do anything but spread more anti hunting fuel to the general public.

Just a back door attack on real hunting. Why not just ranquilize the deer, and not kill it? That's nicer, ? No way! I agree that this is another symptom of antler mania taking over the sport and helping to ruin it, just like "management" practices geared mainly toward producing bigger antlers instead of overall herd health.

My idea of "catch and release hunting" is me, a tree stand and a camera. I still love the taste of deer and probably always will, so unless deer stop breeding and become some sort of endangered animal I think my bow and I will be spending more time together than my camera and I will. This really sounds bad, admititly (sp) I'd love to shoot a big buck but that's not all their is to hunting to me I hope the rest of the hunting comunity arround the U.S. feels the same so this really doesn't take off, can you imagine if we all did this, how many deer we'd have starving to death and eating all of our row crops in just a couple of years? scary.
