I started a thread last year about how I was happy we finally got daylight savings time passed in our state and it stirred up some intresting replies. Now that we all have survived the first stage of turing our clocks forward an hour, I am wondering if any of the doubters have changed their minds. This allows extra daylight to get things done after work and at least for a few days of bow season we will have an extra hour of daylight to hunt after work. I tend to think more people try and get out after work than they do before work. Next year they are adding an extra two weeks to the beginning and the end of daylight savings time so it will have a little more impact on deer season in 2007. Goodyz71

This year the dates for spring and fall were'
2006: April 2 - October 29
Starting in 2007 the dates are:
2007: March 11 - Nov. 4
From 1986 to 2006 this has been the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October, but starting in 2007, it will be observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, adding about a month to daylight saving time. (See: New Federal Law.)

I loved the idea of it then and I am absolutely loving it now. I can actually get things done in the evening after work. I've gotten way more done than I ever did before.
I actually liked it for turkey season too. Getting up at 5:00 to go hunt was much better than getting up at 4:00 like years past.
The only down side I've seen to it is that on Friday and Saturday evenings I like to take my kids blue gill fishing. The fish bite real good at sunset, but now sunset is so late that it is hard for my kids to stay up that late. Out side of that, I love daylight savings time.
I can't wait for deer season to enjoy a little extra evening daylight time to hunt.

I also love it. This time of year it's great for getting home and being able to get yard work done. Baseball and work keep me away from home more than I'm there this time of year, so keeping up with yard work is tough. And once all that is winding down I will certainly take advantage it the extra daylight to hunt in.

I'm not sure if i like it or not. I get up a little after 4am its really hard getting to bed before 10pm when it is still day light outside.

I'm startig to soften a little on the idea, but it sure is hard getting the 1 and 3 yr old to bed at a decent time.

I get up around 4:45 am and retire at 9:30 pm. I am mainly a early morning Hunter, although I do hunt in late afternoon untill sundown.

I'm startig to soften a little on the idea, but it sure is hard getting the 1 and 3 yr old to bed at a decent time. I've heard this from SO many other parents. But, I don't get it. My daughters are almost 5 and 7. Both of them have gone to bed at 8:00 since day one. If they stay up beyond 8:00 on a "school night" I can see the melt down starting at about 8:05. They are off to bed, pull the blinds shut in their rooms, and their eyes are shut. Even under the old time system, in late June it would not be dark until 9:00, so a lot of kids still went to bed when it was day light. I just don't buy the argument that it is messing up the bed time of kids. Teach your kids that they need to be in bed at a decent time and it is a non-issue. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to parent, so please don't take offense to this. But kids were going to bed while the sun was up long before daylight savings went into effect in Indiana.

911, I agree with you. I can only change the time I get to bed at night, I cannot change the time I have to get up. I am up at 4:20 every morning and I am tired most mornings, since I stay outside working one project or another because it is still daylight. I will have to admit it is quite helpful in accomplishing different tasks around the house.
I am so ready for deer season.

But my 8 year old goes to bed at 8 and by 10 he's made his last trip for prayers, hugs, bathroom and a drink. Maybe we should shoot for a 6 pm bed time?

I've been too tired to do much outside here recently, and by the time I get home the wife has usually been turned half crazy from the kids (3 year old and 4 week old). But it is allowing more time in the evenings to get stuff done. I guess I'm softening on it a little too.
For us, I realized about a month ago that it was more OUR mindset on getting our daughter to bed while it was still light, as opposed to her wanting to stay up. We had to make ourselves make her go to bed. It works fairly well.

You all have the choice of getting up or going to bed when you choose to do so , do any of you really need nanny goob telling you when to do it ? Think about it . Does this ridiculous charade really benefit you , or do you just think it does ? I grew up during DST , and I honestly hate it . You should too . Think for yourselves !
