500 dollars a plate to see him. 4000 dollars to get your picture with him. Several million in taxpayer dollars to fly him here so he can raise 800,000 for some congressman.

This didn't just start with Bush. At least the $500 and $4000 are self imposed taxes on those willing to part with it.

It doesn't matter who started it the party that the President is campaining for should pick up the bill. I'd say the money that was raised ought to cover at least some of the expenses. These poloticians act like taxpayers money came out of a monopoly game.

I didn't say he should fly Delta. I think the money raised should be used to get the President to and from the fund raiser and if there is any money left then they can do with it what they want. I dont think the taxpayers should pay for politicl campaining, the parties should. Calm down I'm not attacking the President.

OK
What would it cost the average person to get from Washington D.C. to Indiana and back in the same day......$1000.00-$1500.00..?
I can see reimbursing the tax payers for that!

This is just one example of a mega-multitude of political activities by both parties which are subsidized by taxpayers. No, he should not fly Delta, but the party should pick-up the tab out of their own budget, not yours & mine. Have you ever noticed how many politicians & judges have become millionaires while in office? Scary !

Here's how it works....
When a president uses Air Force One to travel to a campaign event, his campaign must reimburse the government the approximate cost of a first-class ticket for the president and all the political aides traveling with him. The logic is that it's unfair to charge the president's campaign for the full cost of operating Air Force One because he has no choice but to fly on the presidential plane for security reasons.
When the President has ANY campaigning involvement, the party must reimburse the gov't the above mentioned amount....however if it's ONLY Presidential business the tax payer pays all costs.
By the way.... Clinton had an Africa trip back in '98 that conservative figures estimated the cost at $43 million bucks!!!!
