Which rack are you guys talking about? LOL.
Anyway, the start bid of $7,000 still has zero bids on it. Maybe Jimmy Houston will buy it.

After Mr. Houston's experience with Bellar's Place I sincerely doubt that he'll look at another rack for awhile . The last one almost got him a jail cell .

It would appear that the rack has been varnished, if so it drasticly reduces the value of the rack.
It is impressive, but most antler collectors are looking for "lots" of points in a non-typical rack.
I don't see it making the reserve.

I don't know of any good way to take varnish off and return the rack to the original color. I found an old rack in Ontario that had been painted with barn paint. Someone had thrown in in with a bunch of junk that they had dumped back on the Queens' Ground. I brought it back to Indiana and used paint remover and it cleaned up real nice - right back to the original color except on spot that they missed while painting and it was white. A real nice 8 pointer that scored in the mid 140s. I don't think it will make reserve either..at least I'm not bidding it that high..

I bid $10.00 for the rack, $5.00 for the antlers.

7K for that rack? Man once in Vegas I found one much larger that went for less than 500. I thought that was too high 10 years ago. Rod

I used to watch the head auctions on ebay quite a bit. Gives you a little practice in judging antlers if nothing else. The highest price I have seen a WT rack sell for on there is about 4000.00. That was for a 192 typical, with provenance. There have been several non-typicals sold or offered that are larger than the one cited, but its definitely a nice buck. The problem with a lot of these is that they are "anonymous" heads. A good provenance is seldom available. This always casts doubt about a rack, leaving open the possibility of a poached or a penned deer. Most of the big time legitimate collectors will not buy a rack without a good provenance.
