Man who laughed at Cheney gets shot hours later
Girlfriend accidentally blasts him while hunting raccoonswww.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?Posted: February 15, 2006 8:15 p.m. Eastern © 2006 WorldNetDaily.com Vice President Dick Cheney A Colorado man who laughed Monday when he first read Vice President Dick Cheney had shot a hunting companion was himself injured just hours later when he was accidentally blasted by his girlfriend in his own hunting mishap. "I read that thing about the vice president and said to myself 'How can you shoot your friend with your gun?' And look what happened," said Josh Kayser of Lafayette, Colo. According to the Longmont Daily Times-Call, the 21-year-old man was on the trail of raccoons that had been preying on chickens on his family's property. As Kayser crouched down to look under a shed, his 17-year-old girlfriend, whose name was not released by authorities, crouched down behind him and accidentally shot him with a .22-caliber rifle. The bullet reportedly entered behind his right ear, exited through his chin and ended up lodging in his left forearm. Doctors chose not to remove the bullet, lest they cause nerve damage. "I feel fine," Kayser told the paper. "It feels like a cigarette burn." Kayser was discharged from Avista Adventist Hospital after spending the night, and police decided against filing any charges against his girlfriend.

I find it funny how the Democrats have jumped on Cheney and the Bush administration about how they need to come clean and be upfront with the American citizenry about a simple hunting accident (as bad as it may have been). On the other hand when "Slick Willy" had sex (at least I call it sex) with an intern in the Oval Office, the Democrats were jumping stiff-legged and saying it was no business of the American citizenry because the incidents were a part of "Slick Willie's" private life! Now with this hub-bub, I am truly amazed at the lengths they will go to besmirch a Republican like Cheney. If this is all the ammo the Democrats have then the Republicans must be choir boys in comparison to Mr. Clinton and his cigars. Wake up supporters of the Democratic party....you are making fools of yourselves!

It is a hunting board, but that does not preclude us from discussing other things.
The Campfire board is a catch all discussion area.
The Campfire - This is the place to discuss ALL your non-hunting issues. Whether it would be politics, religion, or current events, this is the forum for you.

When they feel like they have thier opposition in a corner they don't let up. Both parties are that way.

It is a joke. This subject is being talked about on EVERY board that I have seen and I visit quite few.. As long as it stays in THE CAMPFIRE here, politics is not off limits.

By JOHN MORITZStar-Telegram Austin BureauAUSTIN
— Vice President Dick Cheney was carrying a valid out-of-state hunting license but had neglected to purchase the required stamp for upland game when he accidentally shot and injured an Austin lawyer and longtime Republican activist during a weekend quail hunt on a South Texas ranch, a state agency reported Monday. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, which enforces Texas fish and game laws, said no citation was issued to Cheney or to 78-year-old Harry Whittington, who suffered wounds to his face, neck and chest when he was struck by pellets from the vice president’s 28-gauge shotgun just before sunset Saturday. The agency’s report issued Monday said that the law requiring quail hunters to purchase the upland game stamp has only been in effect since Sept. 1 and most game wardens have been issuing warnings. Whittington also was without an upland game stamp. “TPWD generally allows a one-year grace period and issues verbal warnings to help educate people about new laws,” agency spokeswoman Lydia Saldana said in a news release. “A warning citation will be issued to Mr. Cheney, as is routine in such cases. ... There is no fine or other penalty associated with warning citations.” Cheney, 65, and Whittington were hunting on a 50,000-acre ranch in Kenedy County when the accidental shooting occurred. Ranch owner Katharine Armstrong told media outlets that Whittington had downed a quail and was walking toward Cheney and others in the hunting party when another covey was flushed. Unaware that Whittington was approaching, Cheney opened fire on a bird in flight and Whittington was hit by the pellets. The report said that both men were wearing orange caps and vests, and that there was no evidence of alcohol misconduct. Cheney is not the first member of the Bush administration to have a mishap while hunting in Texas. During his first campaign for governor in 1994, President Bush shot and killed an endangered killdeer during a dove hunt near Houston. The bird, known colloquially as a “killdee,” resembles a dove. Bush turned himself in after realizing the mistake and paid a $130 fine. Both Cheney and Whittington are considered experienced hunters, though neither had taken the state’s hunting safety course. State law exempts anyone born before Sept. 2 1971, from having to pass the course to obtain a Texas hunting license. According to the Parks and Wildlife Web site, hunters who take the safety course are taught to shoot only when they have a clear view of their target and of the background. They are not to shoot over a hill or in the direction of anything that might obscure their vision. The Web site also put up statistics saying that there were only two hunting-related fatalities in Texas in 2005, making it one of the safest years on record.

Saw a piece in the Kokomo paper today that quoted Cheney as now adding that Whittington was "standing in a gulley and the sun was behind him..."
Seems the story changes a bit every day...

Saw a piece in the Kokomo paper today that quoted Cheney as now adding that Whittington was "standing in a gulley and the sun was behind him..." Seems the story changes a bit every day... No.. just more details are being reported. Next we will find out what the two had for breakfast and if lucky what was for dinner the evening before. Now a question.. Why the disparity in reporting on two similar incidents? Here Hillary's driver almost runs down a security guard injuring him enough that he had to take two weeks off and NO REPORTER reported it. What was the difference? Oh, yeah... Cheney was concerned about the injured party and Hillary couldn't care less. www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/2/13/131728.shtml
