You fellas can tear me up on this one if you want....
But I think folks should lay off Cheney.
From all indications it was an ACCIDENT and from what I am reading BOTH hunters are at fault.
We all know that hunting can be a very dangerous activity, it's stressfull on the body and mind and sometimes, even as hard as we try, accidents happen.
V.P. Cheney, I'm sure works hard and very long hours, to even find time to get out for a hunt is prolly not the easiest thing for a fella in his shoes to do.

Accidents happen to the best of us sometimes .

I think the amount of attention this story is getting is ridiculous, considering the more important stories that are being ignored. Frankly, if it had been any other famous person the story would be over by now, if it had been a Democrat the story wouldn't have lasted more than a day or two at the most.

if it had been a Democrat the story wouldn't have lasted more than a day or two at the most. The incident would have NEVER happened if it were Democrats........Democrats don't own guns! And I'm sorry.....the President of the United States of America and the Vice President should be allowed to hunt in any state they want....without having to purchase a hunting license or stamp. I would think that any respectable Govenor would be HONORED to have the Pres or V.P hunt in their state. We (sporting folks) have a President and Vice President that are AVID soprtsmen....it could be ALOT different if Hillary or some other undesireable were in those positions.

Cheney says he had a beer with lunch before going back out to hunt. Big deal..
The liberal media has been trying for 6 years to get something on Cheney and this was the best they could do.
The big time news people were POed that they didn't get the story right away.
I loved it when Cheney said that the small town Texas newspaper (that first published the story) was ever bit a legitimate news source as the NY Times.
Much ado about nothing - except the liberal media is so slanted it is becoming more and more obvious.

I agree, but it's the uniqueness of sportsmen that allows us to "caringly" poke fun at one another. We have all been there one time or another.

I agree, but find it interesting that Fox News was probably the worst with running this into the ground. I am a new subscriber to cable TV but understood this was clearly the non-liberal biased news station. They sure have pounded it into the ground. I ended up changing to MSNBC to get some other news.

I heard something on Rush yesterday and he asked the question"Would you rather go hunting with Cheney,or drive over a bridge with Ted Kennedy driving?"I know what I would do,atleast you could count on getting some help if a accident happened while hunting with Cheney, and we all know (or most of us)know what Teddy did.

I was surprised that he was using a 28-gauge..... not too many people hunt with them from everyone I've been around. Just a good thing that they were quail hunting and not goose, a load of "T" would have killed the guy........
I'm on the "it was an accident, let's move on" train...... Libs are just trying to find a conspiracy in ANYTHING that happens to the White House.

Having lived in the northern VA area from 1980-94, and worked two years on the Hill, let me explain DC media coverage...
It's not the act that gets you in trouble... it's how you handle the spin...
Clinton didn't get impeached for having sex with an intern... he got impeached for lieing about it under oath...
Teddy didn't get in trouble for having a horrible auto accident in which a woman was killed... he created a scandal by leaving the scene and not reporting the incident until the next morning (after he sobered up, of course)...
If Cheney had come on the local news on Saturday night from the hospital, acknowledged how serious the injuries to Whittington were, and been contrite about it being an accident, the press would have moved on...
Instead, they had the ranch owner acting like it was a strike from incidental shot, that Whittington was at fault, and that Whittington didn't act like it was a big deal, "That sort of thing happens all the time"... then you find out 3 days later the guy took 50-60% of a 28ga load to the neck and face and went down immediately...
It was a serious gunshot wound and a serious accident, and the VP's staff and the White House tried to blow it off as no big deal.... THAT is why the DC press is on'em hot and heavy...
