I'm glad you posted it here Woody...thank you.
Interesting reading....I guess my opinion is if I'm hunting somewhere I want to know ALL the details.
I woud think that would be 10x the case if you were a celebrity hunter knowing most of your actions are scrutinized by the public. Definitely a lapse in judgement on his part, and I'm sure a BIG learning experience.

I don't know the whole story nor have I ever heard of Russ Bellar, call me a rookie, I have however heard of Jimmy Houston and I use to love watching his fishing shows on tv when I was little. When I would fish with my dad, if I ever caught a fish i would always tell him I was just like Jimmy Houston. Hearing this news disturbed me a bit because of how I viewed Jimmy growing up. I think that he is a good man and in all honesty he does, and has done more for the outdoors than I could ever dream of, but he made a mistake. We all make mistakes. Does he lose a little credibility now, sure. Should he be shot in the head, of course not. I believe that his fans mean than the world to him and to have "non-peta" people turn against him is the biggest wake-up call he could get. Lets hope he has learned a lesson and lets try not to hang a man for a mistake.

Sounds like bullsheit to me . One of the deer went under the fence ? Really ? Pfffftttt !! I'm sure we all believe that since the fence was designed and constructed to keep the deer in ...

That was the worst apology I have ever seen. As the one guy said," just say guys I screwed up and promise never to do anything like that again." I fully expect a real man to give a real apology.

I was one of the guys Jimmy called last Friday and he tried, for about 15 minutes, to explain his actions to me almost word for word as what you see in his open letter. I told him them, in a polite way, that I was not buying it. I told him that his only chance at salvaging some fans was to admit he was wrong, say that he was truly sorry and would not do anything like that again. I told him if he tried to make excuses and reason out his actions, that it would only make things worse. He told me then he did not want to try and answer his critics via the internet with the way things can be turned around. I suggested that he use a few minutes of one of his shows to sit down and look his fans in the eyes and express his remorse and bad judgment. I dont want to see Jimmy Houston ruined as he has done a lot of good over the years. I dont think this open letter he has posted is going to help him. If it had been a simple, i was wrong, i am sorry, it wont happen again, and i will help spread the word about the perils of canned hunting, I think we could all forgive him and move on. Thanks for your time, Goodyz71

What kind of a letter was that?
Ole Jimmy REALLY seems to be full of himself...don't he.
A deer escaped under the fence???..... Now was that the boundry fence or the fence for the smaller pen inside the perserve?
Four hours in 20 degree weather....lol lol
You EARNED that buck Jimmy.....anybody that can sit in 20 degree weather for 4 hours and watch hundreds of deer go by.......really deserves the buck of a lifetime.....even if it is tame.
It's no biggie to me.....I never really cared for Houston to begin with. But I can tell you, if I owned a company that produced a product that Houston endorsed......I would be working very hard about right now to end that relationship.
My favorite T.V. fishermen have always been Bill Dance and Al Linder.

BTW - I posted his url to his "open letter" over on bowsite and they yanked it post haste. What gives with them? Whats the deal? They also took down the "real hunters" link and post. Does Bowsite and Jimmy Houston have some of the same sponsors?

Ditto cambygsp. You can tell by the aire & content of the letter that this was not a heart-felt apology. Makes me wonder how many other TV hunting celeberties just have not been caught yet. Jimmy's arrogance seems to be overshadowing this whole issue.

Yes I have that video and it is at Bellars. He talks about Bellars becoming the top big buck producer in the counrty. Knight and Hale also have a video shot there. It was the last knight and Hale product I bought also.
