I heard on a talk show with Mitch himself that they recieved 19 bids on the project. They will not reveal the other bids until the final paperwork is signed and everything is approved, to ensure the company that won the bid to LEASE not buy the road doesn't suddenly change and adjust their terms.

Getting kind of sidetracked on the toll road topic, but I'm all for it. Let those that use it pay for it. Makes perfect sense. Privatization also makes good sense. It has been proven over and over that keeping business in the private sector and out of the hands of goverment is a more cost effiecient way to go. Put the toll road project in the hands of our state government and it will cost the taxpayers twice as much, and take twice as long to get built. Nothing wrong with using private companies "AMERICAN" for major projects. In this case we simple do not need a brand new highway when we could upgrade US-41 & I-70 into Indianapolis. Also this I-69 is refered to as the NAFTA Highway. What come to the US from Mexico & South America? Illegal Aliens and Illegal Drugs. We send back our Factories & Jobs. Doesn't make sense to me.

Just curious....why does I-70 need upgraded into Indy??? It's hardly the most congested interstate going into downtown during rush hour....and the last time I drove across it, it seemed on par with all the other state interstates...... Not sure what "upgrade" you are speaking of DRS.

Sell it for a large secluded farm of timbered hills / hollars, & ridge-top pastures in southern Kentucky where I can hunt with my weapon of choice in liberal seasons.

Not sure what "upgrade" you are speaking of DRS. I should have been more clear. What I ment to say is an up-grade of US-41 to I-70. Construction of a new all terrain highway (I-69) is really a waste of money when we have US-41 & I-70. I know many people here in Evansville that do not want it, regardless what the news and supporters say. I know several Farmers along the path that I-69 will shut down their farms or cut them in half. They obviously don't want I-69. Consider also the additional numbers of Deer and other wildlife will be killed on this new roadway, not to mention loss of thier habitat.

How did you get this info on it being the lowest bidder??? Can I see something that tells the details? Like I said Mitch was on a Sunday morning talkshow about 2 or 3 weeks ago and said they would not release the details of the other bids. The I-69 extension was decided on before Mitch's election, it was left up to him to figure the best way to make it happen, not decide if it was going to happen. And I agree with you on the pocket lining, unfortunately that is government. Big business.

I just asked the question Duff , I don't know the answer either . Since it's a leasing agreement I probably should have said highest bidder ?
