That article says some can heat their homes for 20-30 dollars a night. Is that for real? That would 600-900 a month.

Megan needs to get her facts straight... the IDEM comment on rule thing is for wood/corn furnaces... not stoves... Have absolutely no clue about $20-$30/night, but then that's a state rep talkin' there... they can't decide what TIME it is in Indiana... so all that pesky math and night versus month stuff is just asking too much... The only thing that article got right is the comment deadline... www.in.gov/legislative/register/Vol29/03Dec/11ID326050332.PDFKD

Not only that, the nitwit begins her diatribe with this brilliant observatiom. "Some folks trying to stay warm this summer may face some tougher rules before too long" Summer? Summer? ? Maybe she's a government worker and writes these little gems of wisdom on the side? Ha Ha Ha

1. Megan is a reporter and therefore she must be right (NOT!!!) 2. The proposed rule is for outdoor furnaces and boilers not indoor woodstoves or fireplaces 3. Likely affects less than 1000 people in the entire state 4. Read the link Kirk put above and learn more and don't panic 5. If you are concerned, by all means voice your concerns as appropriate to IDEM. Attend the hearings and make them listen.

Jack, I have to disagree with you on #3. I'm sure there are not a lot of wood burning furnaces in Indianapolis, but Indy is not a good representation of the rest of the state, especially not the southern half.
I can't believe no one has asked the obvious question yet, "What is the difference between an outdoor and indoor wood burning furnace as far as air pollution is concerned?" The smoke goes the same place either way.
Apparently my colleagues at IDEM really don't have anything better to do with there time and apparently the environment must be pretty good in Indiana if this type of air pollution is the biggest concern.

You know what it's all about?? Nobody pays taxes on firewood, that's why they are complaining. The Gov. don't get any kick back from the people selling or buying firewood.
