The wife and myself have decided it is time for us to come into the digital TV world. Our present analog set is 20 years old. We've never had a minutes worth of trouble with it, but the time to upgrade is getting here soon.
I’ve done some looking and the more I look the more confused I get.
What we are looking for is a 32 to 40 inch digital TV. We don’t need nor want the “big screen” as it wont fit in the places we would put it.
I’ve seen some that are LCD, Plasma , ILA, LCD PTV and on and on.
We are on cable here and I think a "cable box" is necessary no matter what I choose.
Please give me your best advice on a particular set, mode (LCD, Plasma , ILA, LCD PTV) and brand. A price and where to get it would be nice too.
Thanks in advance..

Woody, you probably know a lot more about the subject than I do, but I've heard that some of those sets , I think like the plasma ones are only good for six or seven years. Maybe look it up in "Consumers Report".

Although I have satellite I think all the TV's now are cable ready and would not require a box. I have a 36" Sony WEGA which has a great picture for a tube TV. Had it for about 5 years.
Personally I dislike the Projection TV's. Seems like you have to sit directly in front of it for the best picture. If you're off to the sides you can't see it.
Good luck shopping. I'd say next week should be your best deals.

We just upgraded our cable TV service from the "basic cable" we have ALWAYS had to the digital cable.
NOW I am "hooked" on the Military Channel

You cant go wrong with a SONY.
Just pick according to the size that you want.
The true LCDs are more expensive, but give a little bit better picture. The projection LCDs are quite good.
From the first of the year until the super bow you will find some bargains out there.
