Frederick (MD) hunter dies in accident
by The Associated Press
GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) - A Frederick, Md., man died of accidental hanging in a tree stand accident on the first day of the firearms deer hunting season, Maryland Natural Resources Police reported.
Rescuers found the body of Andre Strickland, 53, around midnight Saturday in Seneca Creek State Park in Montgomery County. He had been reported overdue from his hunting trip about three hours earlier.
Strickland was descending from a tree when he fell and became entangled in his safety harness, police said. His body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's office in Baltimore, which classified the cause of death as accidental hanging.
In a second accident, a Hagerstown man fell from a tree stand and was taken to Washington County Hospital. Wilmer E. Karn, 59, of Hagerstown, was positioning himself on a tree stand when he fell 15 feet to the ground Saturday at 6:40 a.m., police said. Karn was hunting on private property off of Wolfsville Road in Frederick County.
Wolfsville Volunteer Fire Co. took Karn to Washington County Hospital, where he was in fair condition Sunday night, according to a nursing supervisor.
Police said Karn was not wearing a safety harness when he fell.

Seems like that story should have the exact oppisite outcome.
The fella that was smart enough to use & wear a safety harness should have been the one to survive.
WEIRD!
