WRTV 6 Indy is running a special piece on the upcoming battle over canned hunting and INDR's ban.
The story will be aired Monday 11/14/05 during the 6pm segment.
Teaser ads have shown pics of Kyle Hupfer and a canned operator that I assume is Rodney Bruce...

UPDATE...
For those who missed the Part 1 episode (my take... Keith or anyone else, feel free to add your version of the report...)
Opening monologue mentioned that deer hunting was a $94M industry in Indiana, but said there were those who wanted to end certain kinds of hunting in the state... (i.e. WRTV 6 did not do a good job of separating sports hunting dollars from canned hunting ops...)
Close-up walking shots of outside of fence looking in... deer, including large bucks watch calmly as the camera pans past...
Brief spots taken from the Ft. Harrison hearings this summer showing one person in favor of "protecting property rights" and gundude's famous "If you want canned hunting for deer... go to Texas..." quote...
Kyle Hupfer saying that "...it isn't fair chase, and basically flys in the face of over 100 years of heritage in sports hunting in Indiana... it's not something we want in Indiana..."
Rodney's interview was him saying that "I wrote a letter to the state asking if this was legal, and both divisions said there was nothing wrong with it..." (picture of IDNR letterhead with former ICO Col.'s name on it)
Rodney's attorney stating that his client had asked the state it's opinion XYZ years ago, and now they're telling him what he's doing is illegal...
Ending monologue in studio regarding how passionate both side of the issue are, and in tomorrow night's installment, we find out if canned hunting is "really like shooting fish in a barrel..." (as story closes, we see what appears to be part of the Bellar tape...)
That's basically the high points as I remember them....
PART 2 Tuesday in the 6pm segment....

The question I would have is WHY was the former administration sending out letters of approval?
This WHOLE mess has been created by a administration and director that didn't have a back bone.......Talk about playing both sides from the middle!!!!

Camby,
They didn't show the text of the letter from enforcement or what Rodney "ask permission for", but my guess is that originally he was asking about raising deer under the game breeder's permit and that the pay-to-shoot operation came later... that's speculation on my part, but I suspect that either he didn't fully inform them or changed ops after the fact...
I thought there was an issue with his place too in that he had put up the fence and captured wild deer in the process, which enforcement found out about later...
Woody or someone else may be more familiar with that deal, but that's what I remember hearing on the grapevine...

UPDATE - TUESDAY SEGMENT
Group of hunters booked at Rodney's prepare to go out on morning bowhunt. Shots of their excited kids talking about going out to the stands...
As "dawn breaks" (looked like about 9-10am), "... a beautiful doe appears on the trail... and a young buck follows her..."
The buck was sporting a tiny forkhorn rack, and when turned broadside to the camera, you could see it's ribs clearly...
Of the "5 hunters" who booked their hunt, only two took animals.... (Interesting that we see no video of any shots, gutted animals, "trophy deer" in the truck...)
Interview with Rodney: He sees himself as a "preservationist"... claims he doesn't hand-feed his deer, that they aren't domesticated, and that he doesn't take away "...their sense of smell, sense of hearing, sense of sight..." so they can avoid the hunters if they want...
Unless I misheard the reporter, he's saying he's only got 120 acres under fence, with 2 miles of permimeter fence up.

Yeah, not much "meat on the bone"... I was surprised they didn't even discuss the specifics of the lawsuit or get more clips of Kyle's side of things...
Not sure how many head Rodney is running, but with any significant numbers of deer, he's about going to have to do some sort of feeding... that little forkhorn sure didn't have any fat on him....

KD Last I heard he had over 100 deer. That is about 1 deer per acre. With that he would have to feed them..

It is important to seperate the good ones from the bad ones- Just as it is with anything. Good Hunters & poachers for example. If they were all bad there is no way they could be as popular and in as much damand as they are.

They are all bad.
They exist because there are alot of rich ego driven people out there who think they can hunt so they go to a game farm and talk about their great hunt and then brag to all of their friends about what a great hunter they are.

I guess you think all hunters are poachers too ? Your logic does not hold any justification unless you feel all hunters are poachers and all people who drink are drunk drivers. That particular segment showed that is was like any other deer camp- some were successfull and some were not. Not exactly canned hunting. May not be for you or I but certainly not "Bad".
