Too hunters who think that a crossbow is somehow taking a deer on the cheap - as the bowhunting lobby in Michigan so oft contends - likewise are sadly misguided. In truth modern tricked out compound bows with stabilizers, kisser buttons, sights, mechanical releases, and what not are very little more then vertical versions of crossbows. To argue otherwise is pointless. It also smacks of elitism something for which there should be no room in the hunting ranks.
