We could hear an owl hooting tonight from inside the house. We stepped out on the porch and there were 3 separate owls calling to each other. One was very close in front of us. We just stood there for a while and listened. They sounded like Great Horned Owls. This summer we had a screech owl that would call every night at dusk. I love hearing them.

Earlier this summer, I found an injured barred owl on the road. I called the DNR to report it. He said they don't have the staff to do anything about it. I was instructed to find a rehabilitation center. This was not in Indiana. I was at work so the owl road with me the rest of the day and I dropped it off to a rehabilitation center on my way home.

We had a pair of Great Horned Owls across the road. After the woods was logged off I have not heard them. They took all the big oak out and I assume their nest tree. New homes being built back there will probably stop any more from nesting there too.

There is a raptor center in Lawrance Co that I have been to 2 of their show and tell events. They usually bring a kestrel, screech owl, barred and a barn owl. I have been to one they had a bald eagle too.
It is very cool. They release many of them but if they can't release them they try to keep them for these show and tell events.
They said they have insane amount of mice for feed...
