A very large and highly trained male German Shepherd and its owner were waiting to get on the subway in NY City.
A young woman asked if it would be OK to pat the dog.
The owner said, "I'm glad you asked, because as you can see the sign on the dog's jacket reads - Service Dog Do Not Pet, but since you asked nicely, go ahead. The woman gave the dog a few pats on the head.
A person next to the woman asked, "What about me, can I also pet the dog?" The owner replied, "No, that would not be a good idea. He is specially trained to be suspicious of men, and he may bite your hand clean off."
The person angrily replied "How dare you misgender me!"
The owner replied, "I'm terribly sorry, but you look like a man to me."
The person angrily shouted "You've misgendered me again! Now you've done it twice!"
The owner replied, "Well, you sure do look and sound like a man, but if you insist, try to pat the dog and we'll let him be the judge."
