Text for the Day -- Genesis 41:53-54, 42:1-4 ---------- The seven years of plenty that prevailed in the land of Egypt came to an end; and the seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in every country, but throughout the land of Egypt there was bread.
When Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons, ‘Why do you keep looking at one another? I have heard’, he said, ‘that there is grain in Egypt; go down and buy grain for us there, that we may live and not die.’ So ten of Joseph’s brothers went down to buy grain in Egypt. But Jacob did not send Joseph’s brother Benjamin with his brothers, for he feared that harm might come to him.
Devotional ---------- Joseph had an incredible journey. He suffered and he prospered. Eventually he ends up being in charge of the grain of Egypt. A great famine occurs and Joseph's brothers come seeking grain. You can sense the drama that is building. What will Joseph say to his brothers? What would you do in a situation like that, where you had all power and someone who hurt you appeared?
Prayer ----------- Lord, give me the courage to walk the path of forgiveness and mercy. Amen
