Anybody here repair/rebuild a floor jack?

The other day I started to jack up the corner of my Suburban and my old 2 ton Sears floor jack would not lift it.
It would not even jack me up and when I quit pumping it slowly dropped down.
I went to Harbor Freight and as I was checking out their stock I started to think about how the jack works.
It seemed to me that there must be a compromised or bad seal, O-ring, ball check, etc.
I decided to hold on a purchase since I can borrow my sons floor jack for now.
I believe I bought this in 1981 at the Sears in Michigan City Marquette Mall.
It is over 40 years old and I've never done a thing to it.
I'll check out some YouTube videos.
Meantime, I'd be open to thoughts or feedback.
