www.motortrend.com/events/hot-rod-drag-week-2024-results/Steve Speiss is the car owner, my buddy John TerHaar is the builder. I spent today at Martin Mi at the track. They could have done better, but they are still learning the car and the track was VERY good today. Too good in fact. My buddy John left his shoe on the track when he tried to walk away from adjusting the wheelie bars. 1st two runs they basketballed the tires. 3rd run Steve had a brain fa.. and left in 3rd gear. 4th run he spun the tires. They were de-tuning the car all day long and the 5th run he finally got it down the track. 1969 Nova with a big block ford in it with twin 88mm turbos. They drive on the street with pump gas, drain the tank, fill the 2nd tank with alcohol and run that at the track. Last night they had a fiberglass front end come off the car that was on 31 North near Noblesville and fly over their car. They thought they were safe, but when they got to the first gas station stop, they saw that their two rear drag slicks that were on the top of the trailer were missing. Somebody said they found them and they would bring them to Goldstone Automotive in Dunlap today. I went there to pick them up and sat for an hour in the parking lot and no tires. They were able to buy a new set of rims and new tires from Lane Automotive in Mi. BUT that set them back $6,000.00. Hopefully they don't have any issues on Thursday or Friday, and they are going to turn the car up on Friday if things allow and try to run in the 5's. This is from 4 years ago and the car has been updated since then and is a LOT faster.

Six grand for a set of tires and wheels why so expensive? BTW I like the name.. BLAME IT ON THE BOSSNOVA. I have no idea. The rears are Weld Wheels. Goodyear slicks. I talked to my buddy, and they said they are already tossing around ideas to safely shave at least 1/2 second off of their times. He didn't elaborate more than that. For a car that they have never done this, and for a car that hasn't been out of the shop for 2 or 3 years prior to Drag Week and for only having about 3 weeks to do testing I thought they did really, really well.
