Every year I will have 1-2 WHITE EGRETS show up and stay a couple days then move on. For the past week or so I have a growing number hanging around that now numbers 13 with 3 Great Blue Herons for good measure.
I wonder if the weather in the Southeast has pushed them up here.
The year hurricane KATRINA hit we had Pelicans on the lakes in town.
I wonder if these Egrets know something.

Hopefully something pushes some actual duck this way for a change. Last 3-4 years have been terrible

Thursday, I was dropping off some supplies for at one of my ponds I intend on hunting ducks at and saw a half dozen woodies and 4 green winged teal. I sure hope more than that show up.

I may jinx myself but I have had between 20-60 Canada geese landing in the cut wheat field behind the house every day. The farmer is there now bailing the stalks, I will see how that affects the geese. If they are still coming in on Aug 31st, I will be in a layout blind on Sept 1st.

My bet is weeds will pop up tall enough that the geese leave on 8/28 or maybe 8/31. Played that game a few times and seems they know...they always know. But with it behind your house that ups your odds of not wasting time!
