It’s crazy times for sure. Never know when someone will snap. I grew up in the Murfield addition, which isn’t too far from there. Not sure it’s even called that any more. Frequented that area all the time back in the day. Believe it was Marsh and KMart there on the southeast corner we would go to.

Possibility it was self defense, prosecutor will make the decision weather to prosecute or not. The accuse stayed and provided police with info.

There is a video online. I was clearly self defense. Guy that died walked up to the truck with handgun. Switched gun to left hand and raised his right hand. When he did the guy in truck shot him. Video is clear as day

This is a little bit of a sidebar. My services group just got an email from our safety champion describing an incident that just happened with a sales rep in one of our marked vehicles up near Tinley Park, basically south Chicago. Apparently some idiot was weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed down the interstate. So happened that this rep pulled off to get gas. Next thing he has this dude coming over ranting and raving. He claimed that our rep caused him to swerve and hit a concrete barrier that wrecked up his car and was demanding to call the cops. The rep had no idea what was going on. Then out of the blue, a trucker comes over who had been in the same traffic line and basically Vouched for our rep because he had a dash cam that showed that this idiot’s car was already wrecked. At this point, the idiot heads for his car to take off, and the trucker quickly snapped a shot of the car with his license plate. Through all this no harm was done but our rep and this trucker have turned this evidence over to the police. Not really sure what will come from this incident. I guess there has been a barrage of incidents like this around Chicago where some of these Jerks have been seeking out mostly service type trucks with logos with the thought that this would be an easy way to try to get big money from a corporation. From what I understand in the context of the onslaught of email replies Dash cams are already in the works for all of our trucks.

HighCotton, about 20 years ago I had something similar happen to me in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Black lady, car was banged up, I was driving my Surburban - Indiana plates. She pulled up next to me at a stop light saying that I hit her. I told her to go pound sand and to call the cops to report a hit and run if she wanted to - I know I didn't hit her. Never heard anything more about it. She probably saw the out of state plate and thought I was an easy mark. Sorry, no. That's my old stomping grounds and that ain't happening.
I'm guessing your sales rep got off on Harlem and stopped at the Speedway that is there?

Several years ago a guy pulled right out in front of me. I had to slam on the brakes to keep from hitting him. I gave him a short horn honk. He stopped and got out. It was a very large framed guy. As he was marching up to the car he was screaming and pointing his finger at me. When he got to my window he saw the 9mm handgun in my hand that was laying on my lap. He instantly stopped and started backing up. I don't know how that situation would have ended if I wasn't armed and ready to defend myself.

A buddy lives in Tinley near 167th street, about 1/2 mile West of Harlem. For years I had a customer in Summit, so I'd go I-80 to 355 North to I believe 135th street.

Some people will do anything without a care for the consequences. I haven't had any definitive road rage occur other than some vehicles that didn't like that I was doing the speed limit while they were doing 15+ over. Have watched YouTube dashcam channels and wow, that will teach you a lot about bad drivers and the behaviors to watch for.

Going to work people get mad at my all the time. I only go 5 over the speed limit. Stay in the right lane out of two and only move out for merging traffic from the highway ramp. Most regurlars that drive same time now know I'm steady good at +5. A lot of speed racers.

Going to work people get mad at my all the time. I only go 5 over the speed limit. Stay in the right lane out of two and only move out for merging traffic from the highway ramp. Most regurlars that drive same time now know I'm steady good at +5. A lot of speed racers. There's a thread in the online astronomy forum Cloudy Nights on this topic. Someone got pulled over and went online to let everyone know... that got everyone sharing road stories and talking about bad drivers (and a few got talking about the times they got pulled over - some of whom don't really care anyway... has lead to a little arguing on that thread). Nowadays it seems "normal" for drivers to speed and disobey the road laws. If you don't like getting tailgated you should go to Lafayette and do the 30 mph speed limit on the narrow road in the valley down by Eli Lily's properties. You WILL get tailgated and you WILL have at least one crazy nut who decides you aren't going fast enough and gets mad. The police almost never patrol that area and everyone knows it. All the locals speed and tailgate if you aren't speeding. That road is an accident recipe waiting to happen. I get tailgated almost every time I drive down there (about 2-3 times a week). I've had 1 speeder who did a dangerous pass right before I needed to move to the center of the road to get over a narrow bridge. I've had 1 speeder who was doing more than 50 mph while I was doing the legal 30 mph and he tailgated, passed me on a double solid yellow line, and tried to force me off the road just before the bridge over the railroad. He's lucky I was too slow to think about honking but had a fast reflex time. I get passed more times than I like to think about. Think I even got honked at once because the driver behind me didn't appreciate my safe driving. I have encountered bikers and a walker in the dangerous area of the road where we are supposed to do 20 mph down an incline just before a bridge with a blind curve. Even had one driver back in May that was speeding, swerving all over the road, and passed me on the double solid yellow line. I think he was drunk - worst driver I have ever seen in that area and there are a lot of bad drivers in that spot. I rarely go more than 5 mph over the speed limit - but there are areas in town where I do it because everyone does it. I tend to camp in whichever lane is most convenient for where I am going - I hate merging where there are lots of cars, especially after having accidentally cut someone off a little too closely one time. I find it funny that some people think honking means it's time to have road rage... If you honk at me I will feel embarassed and chide myself for doing whatever it is I did (been there, done that). One time I was driving while dehydrated (I didn't know that; only that I was out of it) and made a right turn and accidentally pulled out and almost into a car turning left.... the driver noticed but wasn't bothered too badly by it - she mentioned it casually 2 months later at an astronomy club meeting - I had thought I recognized the car). I don't even always do 5 over unless I am running late or have something rather urgent. I do not need a ticket and I do not need an officer who knows me to pull me over. Most of the racers I see are around Indy... A few in Lafayette but not bad. One time I was heading to school and a cop pulled some lady over for some minor infraction - I think it may have been turning left when her light wasn't green, however it looked like the cop might have been following her. One time I did see a speeder get justice... Was driving home from Williamsport on Highway 41 towards Attica and had to go through Attica for something... White car that had a temporary tag and had obviously just been bought suddenly flew past doing an illegal pass (2 or more cars at once and then weaved in and out of traffic) and traveling 75 mph or more in a 50 mph zone with no one else speeding. Got through Attica and was still on 41 when low and behold I see blue and red lights on the side of the road with someone pulled over. That someone was the same white car that had passed me earlier. Only time I've seen that happen personally.
