As most of you know, I just got into waterfowl this past season. And as most of you surely know, it is hard to find a place to hunt. However, I was able to land my second piece of ground. I've been eye balling this spot since this past winter. Finally made contact with the owner today and was able to meet him at the farm. Not only did he grant me permission for waterfowl but, offered to let me hunt whitetails as well.
All it cost me was a good handshake, eye contact when speaking to him and respectful communication.
I can't wait to actually head out and explore the property. It's a couple acre pond surround by some timber and lot and lots of corn fields.

Good for you Genesis. Those little ponds can be goldmines! Love the way you went about asking.

Thanks guys! I'm super excited!
He did tell me that over the past several years, during the late season, he had a couple hundred geese in his field next to the pond for several days in a row.

Sweet! Keep it up. The 1st spot is hard to find. After that it gets much easier. The no's are less defeating too.
Enclosed trailer, 10 doz full bodies, 20 doz silos, retriever, more places to hunt than you have time for, and less desire for deer hunting. I have seen it happen to a few guys

Bacon wrapped on the grill is hard to know the difference. Smoked and thin sliced goose is pretty awesome too. Mostly, the reality is all about the opportunities and tradition. When the opportunities start to improve, the traditions change. And horns.....

My old neighbor who was a waste water treatment operator said after seeing all the ducks flying in to the settlement ponds he'd never eat another duck again.

Lol...right. but farm fresh eggs come out with poop stains and feathers stuck to them. Commercial livestock lots are so much more clean and sanitary. One of my farms I hunt has cattle and you should see how the turkey love to scratch every cow patty. Grain and bugs, better add them to the list of do not eat.
