If you ever want to catch a big KING Ludington, Michigan is the place to go this time of the year. Today is day one of the biggest fishing tournament on Lake Michigan that being the Ludington Classic. The winning boat for day one had their limit of 12 fish weighing 218 pounds that's an average of 18 pounds per fish.

I only fished the big lake on a boat 1x up there but fished the breakwall for perch, Hamlin for smallmouth, panfish and perch. Remember 1st few trips up there snagging fall salmon was still allowed...wild to a central IN kid.

Cant wait to hear the rest of the results.
Several good ports to fish out of up that way.
A big king is probably the best fight there is. My best so far was a 19# 8oz silver in the fall. The fishery has been getting better recently. A 30# fish is now a realistic goal or even expectation.
