Let's discuss these a little. Who has one, what do you think? Happy, would you buy different if you could do it again? Do you have GPS, sonar, etc? I'm set up with 2 batteries, so 24 volt is what I'd get. Everybody around us had them and they never moved an inch. I was on the foot pedal 100%, and constantly sliding in and out of the groove. I tried to anchor, but wind and waves said otherwise. We got a 24 volt, 75# thrust Moror Guide on our 17ft fiberglass Ranger, and it is very adequate power wise and battery life. I was on the lowest speed today constantly for 5 hours, and batteries only went to 85%. Any thoughts please.

Although I don't have one, my buddy does and I've been on his boat a few times with it.
I really like the that he could set the trolling motor to keep us at a certain speed and a certain distance from the bank. The spot lock worked awesome as well. We'd find a nice drop off or point and he'd set-it and forget-it. He doesn't even have an anchor on his boat.

I have had a few minkota brand. I would not get power drive as it can be a bear to deploy. I would not get the auto deploy either as it seemed prone to malfunction when I was looking into them.
I have the 24v terova and really like it. If I was traveling to fish or fished more than 6-8 hrs a day I would get the 36v. My boat is 17ft deep v aluminum and I can troll 8 to 10 hrs solid. Wind or waves will impact the duration significantly.
Mine is not tied to a depth finder so no locking into depth or x-feet from shore. It does have spot lock, cruise and directional lock.
I hate foot pedals so the fob is awesome. Very safe, no karate kid moves on 1 foot.
They are not perfect but imo totally worth the cash. Watch Facebook marketplace and you can get a deal if not in a hurry. Or go buy a new one and no regrets. If you don't like it, they sell fast on the used market.
Mine does have a transducer integrated into the motor housing....never used it.

Spot lock is a game changer for sure. Don't know that I could fish without one now! I've had a Minn Kota Ultrex and currently have a Lowrance Ghost. Extremely helpful to hold you on a spot if it's windy, or to hold you and keep you from drifting if you need to re-tie a bait, etc. And if you fish big water, it's even more helpful. The Ghost and now the new Ultrex both offer models that run either 24 volt or 36 volt, so if you ever decided to add another battery, you can do so and still keep the same trolling motor.

Good stuff so far men, thanks. Keep it coming. This probably wont happen this season. Got a few things to finish up before I can comfortably jump in the game.

Look at the hours they can spend together.

I have the 24v Motor Guide w/ spot lock on an 18' Lund and have been very pleased, use the spot lock feature all the time and it holds you right on the spot.
My son in law has the Min Kota brand on his 16' Lund and I don't think it works quite as well. Takes a bit longer to get stopped and on target and doesn't hold as tightly on target, but still does the job.
Having an on board charger is the only way to go. Makes it real convenient to simply plug in and keep things charged.
