My left knee is bone to bone for awhile now. I would say about a year. I've gotten shots and not much help there. Has anyone one else had a full knee replacement?
I 'm thinking early to mid September, the doctor is about 2 months out. I need to call and schedule soon for September surgery.

Woodmaster got the steroid injection to tie him over on his latest bear hunt in early June. He said that it lasted about 5 days. I got the injection back 5 years ago and it stayed OK until recently. I got another injection early April before turkey season and it is still good to go. His is torn in two places and mine is just age degenerated. He said he will be off work 2 1/2 weeks after the repair. He has the moose hunt in September coming up.

I can get steroid shot end of August.

Dad had both knees replaced at the same time. All I can say is that if you don't follow ALL their physical therapy advice you won't be much better than you are now.

My mom and mother in law both had knees replaced. It was not a good experience for either.
Mom needs her other one replaced but she is holding out until it is 100% unbearable. Both are in their 70s.

My 74 year old mother needs a knee replacement. Although the shots had been helping, they're now not last very long.
I've heard both good and bad about the surgery. I suppose like almost most every other similar surgery, it'll depend on the patients overall health and commitment to physical therapy.
Best of luck!

Find a GOOD Doctor and get it done if everything goes well it's not that big of a deal. I've had both knees done and a hip. Just do what you're told and you'll be glad you did it! It ain't fun but you can do it.

Dad waited too long and his muscles atrophied before the surgery so his PT was worse because he had to build up the muscles again.

I got a small swarm Saturday and the guy just had knee replacement three weeks ago. He was already walking on it and he walked 2 miles that day on it. He stated he walks 5 miles everyday when he could. He stressed PT to stretch the scare tissues and best discussion he made. He stated he waited to long and had muscle leg issues. He stated don't wait. Once bone to bone get it done. I'm calling today to schedule a September surgery. Doctor told me he's two months out. I will do all the PT required by them.

Dad waited too long and lost too much muscle mass in his legs. He never regained the strength he had. He waited so long that he had to go down stairs by sitting on them like a little kid. He could go up the stairs without a problem. This is before the replacement.

Mom and Dad both had knee surgeries this year. Her first; his was a re-replacement from 11 years ago. She did awesome, but he waited too long also and is having a hard time building strength back. Didn't help that he also tore a tendon 8 weeks into recovery going down a slight ramp at a restaraunt. Had to open the knee back up to fix the tendon and now he is 9 weeks into recovery from that and is farther behind than what he was before the tendon tear.
Moral of the story (like others above)... don't put it off too long!

I have one more week before the knife! Next Monday the 16th. I have all the hunting pre-stuff and beekeeping work finished for now. I'm hoping around the 3 to 4th week after, I can shoot the bow so I'm ready late October/early November. On beekeeping, I just need to put shims on each hive and put sugar bricks on.
Schedule: 2 hrs. before surgery, 1 hour surgery, 2-3 hours recovery. Recovery requirement: lift up left leg, then one step up and turn around and down all with assistance. Then go to bathroom. Then I'll be released. Nerve blocker should last to Tuesday afternoon. Then the real pain starts. Hopefully, the pain meds work.

Pain is still a problem, but it’s getting better. I’m off pain meds because of the side effects, hang in there and do your exercises they give you. Hopefully I’ll be in a climber on October 1st.
