Here is another great fishing story.
I purchased my property 24 years ago and then I got remarried so my wife and I had several garage sales to sell off duplicate items we didn't need. At one of those sales a lady who had along with here husband and 2 boys purchased a home down the road from us came to one of our sales with one of the boys in tow.
The young boy saw my fishing and hunting stuff and and asked a lot of questions. That afternoon he rode his bike over and politely asked if he could have permission to fish my pond. I reluctantly said yes with several stipulations one of those was that all bass must go back anything else take all you want. Almost everyday I would see him riding his bike back there to go fishing. The young man followed the rules and kept the place clean.
When he got into high school he found out about National High School Bass fishing and asked his school Laporte High school if they would sponsor him and his fishing partner who also was a neighbor who lived about a mile away. The school told him no they couldn't but they could use the High School name as his team name. Their senior year they won State and qualified for the National Tournament but got their butts handed to them when they fished a lake in Tennessee.
Upon graduation these 2 boys enter Western Michigan University and immediately joined their bass team. This year the 2 boys graduated and during their 4 years Western Michigan they won their championship back to back to back to back.
I don't think they will follow the professional trail but what a great ride it has been and to think it all started with him fishing in my pond.
This past weekend the two young men won a College tournament on Houghton Lake in the upper Peninsula of Michigan.
