i'm ready to buy a grinder so I can not only do ground meat but try my hand at sausage too. We carry LEM (so I can get one at cost) and have been thinking about a LEM Dual Grind #22 Big Bite Meat Grinder. From those of you that use grinders regularly, what are your thoughts?

Looks great! I was going to suggest Lem Big Bite but you already have it figured out.

Mine is a 1/2hp #8 Cabelas brand. It only gets used during deer season, and has been a great investment. Going on approx 25 years of trouble free use.
I can only imagine how fast a #22 would be.
Back when I had my deer processed, our guys grinder neck looked like about 5" diameter.
I'm sure you wouldnt go wrong with any modern coomercial choice. Good luck.

I've had a Cabels's for at least 20 yrs. I think it is a 3/4 or 1hp. I also have the tenderizer attachment. It works great for minute steaks and even better on chicken breasts. I also have the foot pedal control that keeps you from constantly turning it on and off with dirty hands.
If you are going to start making sausage, look for a vertical stuffer. Trying to stuff with a grinder is tedious and aggravating. My attitude towards sausage making changed 100% after I bought a stuffer.
