Went to a guns and ammo auction this Saturday and bought a large box of goodies and in the bottom were two boxes of 100 count of Hornady FTX 225 grain 44 caliber bullets. These are the bullets that Hornady uses with the Leverevolution rounds they sell. I have no intention of reloading these for a 44 magnum round, but was thinking I could use these with my 50 caliber muzzleloader with sabbots. Pros or cons for doing this. I have always used T/C shockwave bullets in all my inline muzzleloaders. These bullets look almost the same. I will never in my lifetime shoot 200 rounds of these. I got some pretty good deals on ammo there. I purchased 8 boxes of 150 grain Winchester Deer Season 350 Legend rounds, 5 boxes of Hornady Superformance 90 grain 243 rounds, and 8 boxes of 204 Ruger Hornady 32 grain rounds. I should be set as far as critter control and deer ammo for life. I also got a set of 204 dies and 350 Legend dies also to reload if I ever get motivated to do so and many other nice items. One was a 1970 Bear Grizzly recurve bow that is mint and another Ben Pearson recurve that is sweet.

My Marlin .44 HATES the Leverevolution rounds! It shoots the Winchester "white box" better than anything I have tried.
When I had a TC Omega, TC had "practice" sabots that it shot better than any other load. I've never had much luck with fancier ammo, including the ridiculous 12g sabots. I always used the Brenneke sabots that were just a bit more $$ than standard slugs.

ms660, they basically are the same but with a softer tip than the shockwaves. Which is the same as the Hornady SST's just a different colored tip. You might have to go with a crush rib sabot from MMP due to the bullets being .44 instead of .45.

I think the 50/44 sabots are always green colored, at least every one I ever seen. 50/45cal can be a mish mash of color options.

Since I've been shooting without them I am forgetting stuff.
