My wife won a Steve's semi auto 12ga at our local DU bingo event, my sister in law won a sigle shot 20ga. We have several DU banquets each year locally.

Pretty solid score at the DU gun bash this evening 👍 That is cool set. I used to attend a few back years ago, then I moved and never been since. I still have some cool prints I won. It was fun with my old buddies but that is cruising on 20 yrs since those days. I don't like going to a duck draw at goose pond due to all the bro-pros. Not sure I could deal with them with some drinks in them!

Last night was the first event I have attended in a long time. My uncle is usually a Gold Sponsor and gets a table for 8 and he invited me as one of his guest.
I'd say 90% of the crowd seemed like pretty good guys and gals. But, it was hard not to notice a couple clicks of guys that appeared to think they should be being waited on, fawned over at their mere presence and most likely claim to have created ducks and are the sole heirs to all things duck hunting. One guy almost demanded to know where all I'll be hunting.

That's more than I've every gotten. I don't even think I've gotten a hat. Never been to a DU event but was a charter member when they started Muscatatuck Longbeards for NWTF. I shutter to think how many guns I could have bought with the money I spent on raffle tickets with no luck.....do have several $100 hats though (LOL)

I'm gonna say early 90s? Randy Showalter was our NWTF Regional Director and our local CO (Jeff Barker) was the initial chairperson.

In 1975 I started a DUCKS UNLIMITED chapter in Laporte with the help of some like minded individuals. The chapter was named Southern Shores since we were the southern shores of lake Michigan. Within 2 years our chapter was so large that we couldn't find a location big enough to host our event. That following year we divided the chapter in 2 and from that day on Michigan City had it's own chapter.
I was a lot of work but it was satisfying.
I have been a continuous member since 1966 when my brother took me to a DU event in Schererville, Indiana.
I still have the Ed Mehok Black Duck duck call with instructional 45 lp record and a DU cigarette lighter I bought that night.

OK FD, I have a question. I was told that the $$ raised at those DU events goes to the national chapter and doesn't stay local, where the NWTF banquet money stays local. Is that a correct statement?

I can't speak for either organization since I am no longer on a committee HOWEVER The KANKAKEE GAME PRESERVE just added an additional 150+/- acres of ground to it's property thanks to a purchase by Ducks Unlimited. DU is constantly doing things all over the USA,CANADA and MEXICO to improve waterfowl and other habitats. I don't know of any NWTF projects in our area.

I was a member of PF, DU, QU and NWTF when I was in So. Cal. QU and PF did the most work habitat and people wise. Guzzlers in the desert, PF put on hunts for kids (I ran my Springers for the kids, no adults were allowed to carry a gun and some parents were made to wait by the truck - they were complete jerks. The kids had a great time away from the jerk parents. NWTF was instrumental in getting wild birds from Nebraska to So. Cal so they could get established. The pen raised birds didn't know to roost in a tree and 99% were killed within a week of being released.

I buy a Minnesota Ducks Unlimited Calendar every year. They raffle off between 1-3 guns every day. In total they give out 700 guns, 4 polaris ATV's, 1 polaris UTV, and 3 $10,000 cash awards every year...I have not won crap in 7 years...but my time is coming..LOL
