Was given a 12v cooler that didn't run anymore and just added the rechargeable air pump to make a portable livewell. Pump was $17 on Amazon. Supposed to run 35 hours continuously on a single charge or 70 hours on intermittent.

Get a 12v bilge pump. Make a spray bar out of 1/2" PVC that goes all around the top of those vertical bars. Drill holes in it so it shoots the water back down. That works a LOT better than the bubbler. 1) It puts more O2 in the water. 2) It off gasses CO2 from them breathing.
The fish will live longer in there that way.

I switched over to the spray bar system and won't go back. Ideally the better route is a small O2 tank, regulator, flow control valve and a point four air stone, but that's a bit much for what you are doing. I know a guy that has one in the back of his side by side to bring Hybrid Striped Bass from his pond back to life when he catches them during the summer.

I've got the pump and spray setup from when I used it in my 12' jon. A 2# lithium wouldn't be bad, but having to buy another charger to go with it just isn't worth it to me. I'll see how this works out and if anything I'll see about putting one of my trolling batteries on my cart with the cooler if I have to break out the sprayer setup.

A bag of ice could suffice as well. Just saying. ๐

A bag of ice could suffice as well. Just saying. ๐ When it gets hot, I start adding a few frozen water bottles. Even in the boat livewells.

Colder water can hold more O2. If I'm catching fish to eat, I'll fill 80% of the cooler with ice, leave just enough water so the fish can wriggle through the ice and keep throwing them in the cooler.
