On SR.39 about 1/2 mile south of US 30 was a very large gravel mining operation that covers several hundred acres which is now non-operational and has become a very deep lake.
A couple years ago the DNR erected a 40 foot plus pole with a nesting platform at the top which I believe was or is intended for OSPREY nesting.
I have never seen any thing using that pole till today.
On my way to Winamac I saw something on top of the pole so on our way home I stopped and glassed it with the binoculars and there on top of this pole is a CANADA goose and it's mate.
This pole is located on the shore of the lake so there is a chance the goslings might have a survivable FIRST STEP.
