I'm pretty happy with my handload of 1 3/8 oz of buffered #6 lead shot in a 2 3/4" Federal Gold Medal Paper hull going 1380 fps. I do have some 3" hulls and 5# of TSS shot to try.

By far, my favorite turkey load. Mine as well, I use the 3" #6 12ga loads in my remington 870. I was down to 2 shells and could not aquire any for several years. I finally got some shipped to Academy back in Jan. I should be good for another 10 years. With 10 shells

Got a buddy that is ate up with turkey hunting. We spent a long time a few years ago finding what shot best in his 20 gauge and it was Longbeard XR. He never had any trouble killing birds, but apparently I am to be helping him soon change over to tss. I think that he was using a Jeb's choke with the XR and it was a legitimate 50 yard killer. Not sure what more he wants, unless he is looking to reach rifle range.

I think Schall53 said he killed one at 80yd with it? It is good stuff for sure. We are using Indian Creek chokes.

Made 3 trips to his house to try different chokes and tss ammo. Carlson .568 choke and Herter's #9 keeps a 9" pattern at 40 yards. Pretty dense inside that 9" circle and stragglers staying inside 12" at 40 yards. He's going to shoot it a couple more times at 50 and 60 to see what it does.
Now I need to shoot my 12 and Abbie's 20 to see what they'll do.

Winchester longbeard xr's at 40 yards. I think that'll be a dead bird!
