Light Goose Conservation Order season opens on Feb. 12, 2024, and ends on March 31, 2024. During this time, Indiana hunters can harvest snow and Ross’ geese (white and blue phases of both species). All you need is a hunting license, an Indiana waterfowl stamp, and a special free permit (available online or at Fish & Wildlife Areas). Neither a HIP number nor a federal waterfowl stamp is required to participate. Find more info and regulations here: bit.ly/LGCOPermits The first Light Goose Conservation Order was issued in 1999 in response to damaged Arctic breeding grounds. The Light Goose Conservation Order was instituted to conserve the tundra habitat and is still in place today. DNR requests that hunters report any banded geese that are harvested to the North American Bird Banding Program through this link: www.reportband.gov/
