Went to Roush today. I hunted from 11 to 2 and had a great time. I forgot how much better it is to actually have snow on the ground. When you find a spot with a bunch of fresh tracks and droppings, you get that feeling there's a rabbit nearby. And then suddenly he takes off running....it's a rush. You just can't beat it. Bagged rabbits numbers 8 and 9 for the season.

My buddy took me to his place this morning. He insisted on pushing a few sections and letting me post and shoot. I ended up with two. Now I think I'll head to my FILs farm and see if there are any squirrels or rabbits to be had.

Chased the bunnies with my 75 yr old pops today. We got 3 in 45 minutes and called it a day. He was tuckered out. Hopefully I will still be moving that well at 75!

I tried a couple new spots today on public. The first spot did not produce but it's hard to get an accurate picture without snow. The second unit I tried I jumped this one along a ditch. Walked from 730 to 1030 and only saw one today.

I went today and found a good spot,or at least I thought so. Kicked out 3 rabbits but to thick to see to shoot. Could only seen few feet and they were gone.

I'm gonna try rabbit hunting for the first time sometime this week. Got permission on a place just a few days ago. I won't be using a shotgun, and I don't have dogs, so pretty much looks like it will mostly be in the short grass. I went squirrel hunting at another place on January 30th and decided to check the grown-up field for sheds and rabbits. Saw one heading through the long grass and when I walked up to check it out it busted out 5 ft from me and beelined for the briars on the edge. Fun experience though. I have "hunted" rabbits with an airgun at home as pests (you know, garden pests). Be using a .22, since the 20 gauge I'd use is out of service right now in need of major cleaning. And I"m not comfortable with a 12 gauge. And IN regulations say any equipment is fine. Anyway, our .22s are WAY more accurate than our airgun, which has some issues that make me want to replace it.......

First one of the morning. Even if he's the only one it has been a success! Saw two others thus far

I,m just not seeing the rabbit numbers that I am used to. Slow season so far. Need some colder weather to push them back into the thick stuff.

Yeah I agree this season has been challenging. I wish we could get another snowfall or two to finish out the season. But it doesn't look like that is likely.

Followed a few tracks this morning that didn't pan out. Finally, this one jumped out of a pile of cattails along a small creek.

They are a lot easier to see against the snow background!

Walked around for a couple hours this afternoon. I am getting better at finding rabbits but unfortunately the places I usually find them aren't too good for quality shot opportunities. I guess that's why the rabbits choose to live where they do. This one messed up though and zigged when he should have zagged. He ran out of a ditch and across the corner of a cut corn field giving me a clear shot.
