You know how I know those are Bluegills? Those faint black lines in the fillets. I've never seen that in any other fish, and I honestly don't know what causes that.
I should have some pictures next month at this time. A customer wants me to come over and fish his pond. It will be interesting is all I will say. It's a VERY unique fishery. He spent 2 years re-doing the pond, first year cleaning out all the muck and stuff, 2nd year putting in a bunch of rocks and wood.

Caught an all fry team as sun was coming up. Spring has been fun this year.

Went at daylight yesterday morning and it was a total bust! I knew I was taking a chance with the wind, but I didn't think it would be that bad that early. I was very wrong.
The small bluegill were very active, but nothing else. It was the first time out this year that I did not bring home 20+/-

My family used to fly in to Cameron lake out of Nestor Falls just north of there. The fishing up there is awesome.

Good news! Planning to head towards the opposite corner of the state Sunday morning. My friend's grandfather built a 4-5 acre pond on the outskirts of Holland in the late 60's. When he sold the property, he put in writing that the sale included lifetime fishing rights for his family. The current owner doesn't fish and has no interest in starting to. It's absolutely my favorite place to fish. The bluegill and red ear are just like you have pictured. Crappie aren't plentiful, but two-pounders are caught every year. The best day there ever was a few years ago when we (two of us) had two steel mesh baskets full before noon.l
