I'm looking for a place to bag a few squirrels in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Gibson, or Pike Co. This will be my first squirrel hunting season and I'm not sure what lo-cal to start my hunt. Not looking for any super secret info, just a place to get a day limit.
I live about 5 minutes from Bluegrass, so any close squirrel grounds would be great.
Gracias, Crappie Hunter

Try Sugar Ridge FWA. I use to hunt in areas 5 & 6 and had good luck with hunting Squirrels, which are mostly "Grays".

Is Bluegrass not any good for squirrels? I have extended family in Evansville and thought I might check it out sometime. I have also thought about bringing my boat down sometime to fish.

Bluegrass F&G area, is relatively new. Not much in-the-way of woods for Squirrels, but there is fishing there currently.

I haven't seen anything in the way of forage for squirrels... nor have I seen any squirrels. Not to change the subject, but the fishing is good. Crappie in spring and fall. Haven't been able to get them to bite during summer. I'd say they are 10-20 ft hidden is some cover I'm yet to find. The bass were hitting an 8 inch touchdown worm carolina rigged as of yesterday. Haven't had much luck on crank, jerk, or spinners. The stick ups on Loon Pit seem to be the best place to locate them. Musky at Loon would be the way to go. I spotted 2 last weekend. I'd say one was at least 40"... which, I guess is small for a musky. But uh, I hear they are hitting best at night during summer months. The daytime method would be to troll. I haven't had any luck with musky. crappiehunter

I don't think finding a good squirl spot will be too hard for you, no one hunts them any more. That's fine by me, anyway there is a whole lot of squirls up arround area 5 in sugar ridge just find an old oak or hickory tree and set down for a while and they'll come out to play.
