Don't know how far you're willing to travel, but if I were looking for a GSP pup I would call Scott Townsend at Crosswind Kennel in Michigan. Scott's number is 734-587-2180. If Scott doesn't have pups available, he'll know where to point you.

If anyone knows of a litter of German Shorthair Pointer pups for sale out of hunting stock. Please p.m. me or post here. Thanks Have you gotten a GSP puppy yet? Well kinda. Ended up with a lightly started 15 month old around Christmas. Hunted a couple times on birds around the house before season went out and he did pretty good. Started taking him to a preserve in Illinois and shot some birds over him. Man did that light his fire. Then my son was getting hooked on it. So he was offered a 6 month old pup with papers for free. She was to much of a "hand full". Well she is a hand full. After two days of being nuts around his Lab. She needed a home. Well let's call good ol Dad. So I have since took her in now as well. Well after a fee days of messing with her decided to see what see would do on a wing. She instantly locked up on a wing. We did this for a couple days. Then yesterday I decided to haul her to Illinois. Wanted to see what she would do by herself. She pointed 4 quail and we shot 3 over her. Long story short. I now have 2 and think there on there way to being a good pair. |

Let’s see a pic of the New family and share their names…Thanks! I would gladly post some pictures but I'm not computer savvy and don't know how. The male registered name is. I'm your Huckleberry Finn. Goes by Finn. He is a rare black roan patched. The female registered name is Rock Solid Bonnie. Goes by Bonnie. She is a traditional liver roan patched. I have been out of the bird dogs for several years. Dad and I use to have them. I will truly say I have been having a blast with these dogs. I honestly think if I lived in big pheasant states like the Dakotas. I probably wouldn't hunt anything else other than upland. |

Will they retrieve from water too? GSP are used for some waterfowl. But I don't know of anyone personally that uses them. These two have strong pointing desire. Weak retriever desire. But they are both young and we will be working on that this summer. |

But they are both young and we will be working on that this summer. See if you can find a pond or area that has a gentle slope to get them into the water. If you can walk in the water, so much the better. If you can hook up with a buddy that has a lab or other dog that loves the water, the dogs will learn faster from the other dog than you. Especially if the other dog loves retrieving from the water. |

I haven’t been bird hunting for years, but planning on getting him on some. I am also considering training him for deer recovery.

Well my Son, Daughter in law and I headed to Illinois this morning to do a little hunt. Sadly a week from tomorrow its all over with till fall.
Had a fun little hunt today. Decide for the first time to see what they would do together.
Will say I am proud of these two dogs. Think they will end up making a good team.
My male was on his game today. And the 7 month old pup did very well. She pointed 3 birds on her own. She even backed my male dog on all his points.
Only think we will work on is him honoring her points. He refused to honor her today. Went on hunting his own bird. He was perfectly find with her honoring his point.
But hey. Both less that 16 months old. Doing well for what I want. We will keep polishing them.
Oh and by the way. I am having a blast.
